Max Emanuel Brauerei
About 125 years ago Max Emanuel Brauerei established a brewery at this location. While the original brewery is no longer in operation, the adjoining beer garden still exists and now sells Franziskaner and Löwenbräu beer. The old brewery building now functions as a restaurant and bar. This small and charming beer garden is well-shaded by chestnut trees enclosed in a narrow backyard of old style inner city apartment buildings.
There are 750 seats of which about half comprise the self-service area where guests can bring and consume their own food according to Bavarian beer garden tradition. A unique feature is one large table for up to 20 people where guests can pour beer from their own barrel. Only the amount consumed will be charged according to a measuring device attached to the barrel (minimum 15 litres). Make sure to book this table in advance. The Löwenbräu Helles (lager) is €6.80 p/maß and the Franziskaner Weißbier (Bavarian wheat beer) is €3.70 p/glass. A daily special offer until 3pm are two Weißwürste plus a Brez'n for €4.
The beer garden is open daily from April to October between 11am and 11pm. As the beer garden is situated in a residential area, singing aloud while leaving late should be avoided as it would probably land the owner in trouble with the neighbours.
