The beer garden is partly shaded by sun-umbrellas and chestnut trees. A mix of locals, tourist, school classes and other visitors often arrive in groups and make this a lively and mixed crowd beer garden. It is unusual to see anyony bring their own food, perhaps due to the many tourists who do not come from Bavaria and who are not necessarily aware of the custom. The Andech beer garden is however well in tune with Bavarian traditions and to bring one's own food is not discouraged in anyway. The self service food stall offers a selection of typical Bavarian cold and hot meals, and of course, the Andechs' beer brewed at location and served freshly from the tap.
A fish stall offers Steckerlfisch (grilled fish-on-stick) which is prepared with to perfection by a dedicated cook using freshly cought traut from the Beeringsee alpine lake topped with organically grown herbs from a spice garden within Andechs. At €20 - (approximately twice that of any Steckerlfisch in other beer gardens - ) this is can be no ordinary Steckerlfish. To prove the point , there's no shortage of orders! Other menu items at the food stall including beer are normally priced.
There is no serviced area at in this beer garden. A serviced and more formal Wirtsgarten which is also part of Andech's offering the Andechs property and can be found across the road.
