22 April 2011: A new management has taken over the former Kongress Garten venue and has opened a beer garden under the name of Wirtshaus am Bavariapark.

16 April 2011: Unfortunately this nice beer garden closed in March 2011. Further info at www.kongressgarten.de.

Kongress Garten is located at a former exhibition centre in Munich. The adjoining restaurant and beer hall once served as a canteen for the exhibition centre. The beer garden originally opened in 2007 under the name of Die Alte Messe, which was changed to Kongress Garten following a change of ownership 2010.

The food stall in the self-serviced area serves traditional beer garden meals, such as Hendl (roasted chicken) and spare ribs. The restaurant specialises in seasonal Bavarian cuisine. A daily changing menu is offered in the serviced area. The beer served fresh from the tap is Augustiner and a Maß Helles (lager) costs €5.80. A regular Frühschoppen (a traditional Bavarian breakfast) accompanied by music invites guests for an early Maß.

The main entrance to the beer garden can easily be found behind the famous Bavaria statue overlooking the Wiesn where the Oktoberfest takes place. The beer garden is open daily during the summer when the weather is good from 10am to midnight.
