Cirkuswiese is one of the less busy beer gardens in Munich, situated next to the “Wiesn” where the Oktoberfest takes place. The beer garden is owned by the Hacker-Pschorr Bräuhaus which operates a beer hall, restaurant and a “Wirtsgarten” situated over the road.

Cirkuswiese is suffering from years of neglect despite the fact that the property is owned by the Hacker-Pschorr Bräuhaus since recent years. While the beer garden is closed, the gate remains open which attracts the occasional lone office worker to sit down with a lunch pack or read a newspaper.

Cirkuswiese has no regular opening times. During the summer in 2010 it was not open at all. During the summer in 2011 it was open maybe only one day. The food and beer stall sometimes open during major football tournaments with a public viewing screen and during the Oktoberfest. Fresh roasted chicken (Hendl) is then sold in the beer garden. Given its central location amongst office blocks and residential apartments, with some major renovation, Cirkuswiese could potentially be reinvigorated as a popular beer garden venue, especially during lunchtime.
