Cirkuswiese is one of the less busy beer gardens in Munich, situated next to the “Wiesn” where the Oktoberfest takes place. The beer garden is part of the Hacker-Pschorr Bräuhaus which operates a beer hall, restaurant and a “Wirtsgarten” situated over the road.

After many years of neglect, Cirkuswiese was reopened in 2016 by the new innkeeper Robert Kneidl. While the original self-service is as of 2016 still in need of renovation, a mobile food stall has been placed in the beer garden.

Food offered include Steckerlfisch (fish on a stick), such as trout, char, salmon trout, zander, mackerel. Additionally, there are baguettes with salmon, matie or herring. Other fish snacks include fried fish, calamari, scampi and fish nuggets. Meat eaters can order bratwurst, spare ribs and burger along with various side dishes. The beer is from Hacker-Pschorr and a Maß Helles (lager) costs €7.60 (July 2016).

There are three grill tables for about 20 guests each. Fish can be bought directly at at the food stall and grilled at the table. The beer garden provides the charcoal.

While it may not be apparent, guests are welcome to bring their own food according to Munich tradition. Although the location is surrounded by many offices and the Octoberfest building grounds, the beer garden remains closed during lunch time. However, as the gates remain open, it should not prevent visitors from buying a drink at the brewery across the road and bring over to Cirkuswiese.

Ciruswiese is open when the weather is good on weekdays between 5pm and 11pm. Saturdays between 3pm and 11pm and Sundays from 11am to 11pm.
