Bier & Oktoberfest Museum
The Bier & Oktoberfest Museum is located in a historical building in the centre of Munich. The museum exhibits the history of the Oktoberfest and ancient beer brewing traditions of Bavaria. The exhibits include many interesting artifacts, such as a collection of Maßkrugs from the first few Oktoberfest events and various beer related memorabilia from the former times.
Various sections of the museum are divided between floors. On the top floor, a small cinema runs an ongoing documentary how the Bavarian beer making tradition has evolved from humble beginning of small farm and monastery brewery operations to its present day worldwide export industry dominated by the six major breweries of Munich. On the ground floor there is a restaurant, bar and a small beer cellar.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday between 1pm and 6pm. The restaurant and bar is open until midnight. Museum, restaurant and bar are all closed on Sundays and public holidays.
