The Bier & Oktoberfest Museum showcases the yearly Munich Oktoberfest event and Bavarian beer brewing traditions by written display boards in German language, detailing historical facts along with illustrations and photos and various brewery and beer related memorabilia, such as a complete collection of original beer mugs that were used during the early years of the Oktoberfest.
A small cinema runs a 12-minute documentary with English subtitles throughout the day about how Bavarian beer culture has evolved from primitive brewing experiments of the middle ages, through innumerable small farm and monastery based brewery operations during the Bavarian Kingdom, up until today's worldwide export industry dominated mainly by six major Munich breweries.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday between 1pm and 6pm. The entrance ticket for the museum is €4 p/person. A restaurant and bar on the ground floor remains open until midnight. The museum, restaurant and bar are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
