Hofbräuhaus is frequently mentioned in the context of a "beer garden" by feature writers and travel media etc. However, this is a misunderstanding. While Hofbräuhaus is indeed Munich's most famous beer hall, there is no adjoining beer garden at this location in Platzl 9. Only a Wirtsgarten exists in the central courtyard of the building.
