The Bier & Oktoberfest Museum in the centre of Munich documents the Oktoberfest and beer brewing traditions in Bavaria by written displays with historical facts and events, drawings, photos and beer related memorabilia, such as a collection of Maßkrugs from the first few Oktoberfest events.
A small cinema runs an ongoing documentary on how beer production has evolved from the early days of innumerable small farm and monastery based brewery operations to the present day worldwide export industry dominated mainly by six major Munich breweries.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday between 1pm and 6pm. A restaurant and bar on the ground floor stays upen until midnight. The museum, restaurant and bar are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
