The Hofbräuhaus is sometimes featured as a “beer garden” in travel reviews about Munich. However, such features are incorrect. While Hofbräuhaus is indeed Germany's most known beer hall, there is no real beer garden at this location. Only a Wirtsgarten exists in the central courtyard of the Hofbräuhaus in Platzl 9, close to Marienplatz.
Those searching for a Bavarian beer garden including the famous Munich Hofbräu lager are well advised to visit the Hofbräukeller at Innere Wiener by Wiener Platz in the Haidhausen district of Munich.
Of course, several other beer gardens in Munich also serve the famous original Hofbräu lager.
