The Hofbräuhaus is sometimes featured as a “beer garden” in travel reviews about Munich etc. However, such publications are incorrect. While Hofbräuhaus is indeed Germany's most well-known beer hall, there is no adjoining beer garden at this location. Only a Wirtsgarten exists in the central courtyard of the building at Platzl 9, close to Marienplatz.
Those searching for a real Bavarian beer garden including the famous Munich Hofbräu lager are best advised to visit the Hofbräukeller at Innere Wiener Straße 19 by Wiener Platz in the Haidhausen district of Munich.
Of course, several other beer gardens in Munich also serve the famous original Hofbräu lager.
