Hofbräuhaus is sometimes referred to as a “beer garden” in listings and in travel articles about Munich etc. However, this is incorrect information. While Hofbräuhaus is indeed Munich's most famous beer hall, there is no adjoining beer garden at this location. Only a Wirtsgarten exists in the central courtyard of the building.
Those searching for a real Bavarian beer garden including the famous Munich Hofbräu lager are best advised to visit the Hofbräukeller at Innere Wiener Straße 19 by Wiener Platz in the Haidhausen district of Munich.
Of course, there are several other beer gardens in Munich which also serve the original Hofbräu.
