The Bier & Oktoberfest Museum showcases the yearly Munich Oktoberfest event and Bavarian beer brewing traditions in the form of written displays with detailed historical facts, illustrations and photos, along with various beer related memorabilia, such as a complete collection of beer mugs used during the very first few Oktoberfest events.
A small cinema runs throughout the day a highly informative documentary about how the Bavarian beer culture has evolved from rudimentary brewing experimentation during medieval times, through innumerable small farm and monastery based brewing operations, up until today's worldwide export industry dominated mainly by six major Munich breweries.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday between 1pm and 6pm. A restaurant and bar on the ground floor remains open until midnight. The museum, restaurant and bar are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
