Using the wide image method is recommened for images that are displayed wider than 600 pixels, since it prevents the such images from stretching beyond a browsers individual browser's natural widthwidths, which would otherwise cause text -paragraphs of an the entire page require sideways scrolling of the actual browser window when viewed on narrow screens, such as on hand-held phone browsers and some small netbooks.
