The Hofbrauhaus-Keller is an 850 years old property connected to the Hofbrauhaus brewery in Freising. Hofbrauhaus-Keller in Freising has no connection to the Hofbräuhaus or Hofbräukeller in Munich. Hofbrauhaus-Keller is located at the Lankesberg, a small hill close to the Fresing city centre in a quite and residential area, approximately 43km north of central Munich.
The Hofbrauhaus-Keller in Freising was originally a storage location for cooling beer during the warm summer months. The traditional property, build in the same style as the old brewery, is still owned by the brewery. In recent years the beer garden was managed by a leaseholder who discouraged the traditional for guests to bring their own food. This caused many locals to boycott the location. However, in 2010 a new leaseholder brought the traditional beer garden concept back to life and the Hofbrauhaus-Keller Freising has regained its popularity amonst the local population. There are 650 seats in the self-serviced area of the beer garden and 120 seats on a serviced terrace on the opposite side of the building in addition to a restaurant and events room in the building.
The beer garden opens everyday at 10.30am.
