The Hofbrauhaus-Keller in Freising was originally a storage location for cooling beer during the warm summer months. The traditional property, build in the same style as the old brewery, is located behind the property of the original brewery. In recent years the beer garden was managed by a leaseholder who discouraged the traditional a tradition for guests to bring their own food. This caused many locals to boycott the locationbeer garden. However, in 2010 the new leaseholder, Peter Sonnauer, brought the traditional beer garden concept back to life and the Hofbrauhaus-Keller Freising has regained its popularity amongst the local population. There are 650 seats in the self-serviced area of the beer garden and 120 seats on a serviced terrace on the opposite side of the main building in addition to a restaurant and events room inside within the building.
