The Gaststätte Heimstettener See and beer garden is located directly at the Heimstettener See near Feldkirchen. The Heimstettener See was created in 1937/38 when the Deutsche Bahn used it as a pit to mine for gravel. Thereafter the meadows around the lakes have been flattened and the area became a recreational park.

In 1971 the Gaststätte Heimstettener See opened on the northside of the lake. The beer garden has 500 seats with most tables fixed to the ground. Dense chestnut trees provide the necessary shade. There is no serviced area in the beer garden. Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick) and various quick hot meals and stacks are offered at the foot stall. The cook will shout out aloud to inform guests when their meal is ready. The beer served is Ayinger Helles and costs €5.80 p/Maß. Major football tournaments are shown live on a large screen in the beer garden.

When the weather is nice and warm enough the beer garden is open daily from 10am until the last guests leave.
