The Hofbräuhaus is sometimes incorrectly featured as a “beer garden” in various travel reviews about Munich etc. While Hofbräuhaus is indeed Germany's most well-known beer hall, there is no real beer garden at this location. Only a Wirtsgarten exists in the central courtyard of the building at Platzl 9, close to Marienplatz.

Those searching for a real Bavarian beer garden including the famous Munich Hofbräu lager are best advised to visit the Hofbräukeller at Innere Wiener Straße 19 by Wiener Platz in the Haidhausen district of Munich.

Of course, several other beer gardens in Munich also serve the famous original Hofbräu lager.
